Synopsis:

Andy Lau delivers a powerful performance in Lee Rock I, the first of two films chronicling the true story of one Hong Kong police officer's rise to power. Lee Rock (Andy Lau) is a barely-literate street kid who joins the police force only to learn a rough lesson: the goal of being a cop is to gain promotions, and not necessarily to protect and serve. Bribes and kickbacks are a part of the game, and to try and remain clean is to invite isolation and poverty. Lee Rock tries to stick to his personal ideals anyway. But his righteousness earns him derision of the fellow cops and even causes him to lose his beloved fiancee Rose (Chingmy Yau)! Eventually, Lee Rock becomes determined to become Chief of Police to affect change from within, but the obstacles are great. His corrupt superior (Paul Chun) is looking to destroy him, and his new flame Grace (Sharla Cheung) happens to be the daughter of a top gangster! Can Lee Rock make it to the top without tarnishing his very soul?
